Plant Controller/Operations Analyst

In this role, the Plant Controller/ Operations Analyst is responsible for all financial duties for this facility including the monthly accounting close and post-closing analysis, adhoc analyses, financial justifications of capital investments and various financial forecasts. This role will provide "back up support" to the McPherson, KS plant as needed, and may require travel to the facility at times.
Secondarily to the role are the responsibilities of the Operations Analyst. (25%). This position will be responsible for supporting the complex and challenging operational and financial analysis requirements of the Siding Products Group (SPG), including all SPG Lines of Business (which include 3 Vinyl Siding brands: CertainTeed, Norandex, and Vytec), along with Polymer Shakes, Restoration Millwork, Fence, Rail & Decking & Polymer) plus any lines of business added as the group continues to grow. This function is required to provide timely, accurate, and value-added analysis to management that is essential for effective decision making. It is expected to evaluate alternatives and make recommendations as a financial advisor to the Plant Controllers, Plant Managers, VP of Manufacturing, and Group Controller. Operational performance evaluation in supporting the VP of Manufacturing will be a routine requirement of the position and is expected to deliver all detailed support needed to enable management to provide effective decision-making and strategic goal setting as integral advisors to their respective businesses. The role of Operations Analyst will also manage centralized reporting requirements and valuations for the Siding business; including Governmental surveys, selected centralized valuations such as slow-moving\obsolete, and SG Corporate requested information.
This position will need the capacity to meet the needs of a complex, diverse, dynamic and fast paced organization that will pose a wide variety of challenges from both the finance and manufacturing levels. This position must answer financial and cost accounting questions and challenges quickly and accurately, keeping in mind requirements from GAAP as well as IFRS. Although some challenges have standardized answers, many do not and require creative thought and strong analytical skills to solve. It also requires the intensity, agility, and aptitude to successfully manage multiple simultaneous priorities and projects.
The Plant Controller/Operations Analyst will also focus on continuous improvement.
This position will report to a Manager of Financial and Cost Analysis for Operational Analysis and another Manager of Financial and Cost Analysis in terms of the Plant Controller responsibilities.
Plant Controller Duties - 70%
+ Month-end Closing and Post-Closing Analysis
+ Plant Management support, including active participation in staff meetings, internal control evaluations, local operational analysis, and preparation of financial justifications of capital investment
+ Inventory verification and control
+ Account reconciliations and explanation of variations
+ Various financial forecasts including the monthly midmonth estimate, rolling forecasts and the Plant?s annual budget
+ Plant metrics & key operating indices
+ Support plant annual compliance to internal controls review and annual Self-Assessment Review process
+ Perform test audits on plant visits to ensure compliance
Operations Analyst Duties- 25%
+ Review and monitor the manufacturing performance throughout the month
+ Analyze financial results, identify performance issues and proactively initiate analyses and solutions
+ Analyze product standard costs across plants (Initial standard setting remains responsibility of Plant Controller)
+ Group calculations on slow-moving\obsolete
+ Participate and support the month-end financial close
+ Ad hoc analysis as needed
Backup Plant Controller responsibilities - 5%
+ Periodic travel to the Kansas City Plant is critical for the incumbent to stay fresh with the financial procedures, as well as the details of the operations
REQUIREMENTS:
+ BS/BA in Accounting or Finance. CPA, CMA or MBA preferable or equivalent work experience
+ Minimum of 5 years? progressive experience which should include cost accounting / analysis duties in a manufacturing environment
+ Proficient in management accounting, cost and inventory accounting and financial analysis
+ Audit Experience is a plus
+ Solves problems with business acumen, strong analytical skills, creative thinking and innovation
+ Demonstrates IT proficiency (ERP, database, Excel, PowerPoint); uses to analyze & improve processes. SAP experience a plus
+ Maintains technical proficiency through education and training
+ Has excellent interpersonal / relationship building skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization; effective process improvement team member
+ Demonstrates high client service orientation
+ Experience working with and reporting into all levels within the organization from plant management to Senior Management

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
